The Coordinating Council of Southern Demobilised Military, Security and Civilian’s Associations
Important statement on the occasion of the day of southern anger

Translated for TajAden site 06.08.2007
In the Name of the God the Most Gracious the Most Merciful
At the beginning we would like to salute the people involved in the demonstrations, which have been organised by our council and been carried out today in all governorates of the South. We also salute your determination in peaceful struggle to regain your rights from Sana’a’s usurped power, which forced it to life in poverty, hunger and deprivation of work. That usurped power deprived us of our wealth and our lands.

Ladies and gentlemen please allow us to pay tribute to all heroes prisoners, wounded and pray for the souls of the martyrs, whom were killed by the bullets of the Yemeni occupation’s forces. Those who been captured or wounded for no reason, only because of their peaceful involvement in the strikes calling for their legitimate rights.

The coordinating council of the demobilised greets highly all members and leaders of our associations and all southerners who joined our strikes despite the violence and repression used by the authority of 7th July and we would like to reaffirm on the following principles:

1- We are determined to continue our struggle to regain our political and civil rights, which with no doubt are part of the whole southern issue caused by the war of 7th July 1994, when the Yemen Arab republic’s troop invaded our country; the South, eliminated our institutions, confiscated our land, looted our wealth and mainly targeted the southern people .

2- Immediately should release the arrested people, who were put in the Yemeni occupying regime’s detentions and punish all bodies, individuals who used violence, which resulted in deaths, injuries and the arrest of many of southern innocent people. Release all conscience detainees, stop torture and isolate them and give them all right as opinion detainees. Also to bring troops that used violence before justice and pay fair compensation to all wounded and dead people fell on 2nd August due to the violence used by the Yemeni occupying security forces in suppressing the southern peaceful picketing.

3- All dialogues conducted by the Yemeni authorities with what so-called retirees are illegitimate because those who are involved in the dialogue are part of the authorities, not representing us and have no link neither to our cause nor to our associations in general.

We emphasize on the issue that the only representative of us is the coordinating council of the demobilised southern military, civilian and security’s associations. That council and its elected leaders, was formed by the demobilised people and leads the southerners’ activities across the whole South Arabia. So any attempts by Sana’a’s authorities to copy, clone the associations will not thwart or dissuade us of continuing our struggle, but it will strengthen our determination until we achieve all our goals and demands.
5- We condemn and reject any attempt to thwart and marginalise the role of the associations and its coordinating council, or to confiscate the rights of the demobilised southern people by doing decorative negotiations. We will accept the negotiation with the Yemeni occupying authorities only under the supervision of the international institutions such as the United Nation, the Arab League or the European Union according to the international law and legitimacy and according to the Security Council’s resolutions 924 and 931 of 1994 regarding the war and the Yemeni invasion to South Arabia. It is our bad experience with the Yemenis for 17 years as they do not keep their promises or agreements, do not respect the law and do not recognise others’ rights.

6- We reiterate our call to the whole world, international bodies, institutions, and to all liberal bodies in the world to condemn the Sana’a regime’s crimes committed against the South Arabia’s people and appeal them to stand beside our legitimate struggle. We confirm our determination to them in practising our rights to struggle peacefully despite the carrot-and-stick policy, siege, fall of the martyrs, wounded and throwing fighters in prison until we to achieve all our demands, political and legal rights and until Sana’a’s authorities executed all international agreements, commitments and resolutions on the issue of the South and give the people of South Arabia the right to choose their own future and achieve their self-determination.

7- We express our thanks and appreciation to all the liberals and honourable South Arabia’s people who lives abroad all over the world who have support us, as well as the international organisations and international community, which showed their concern, support our demands, condemned the use of violence by the authorities of Sana’a and called for the release of detainees, treat the wounded and to hold responsibility by who caused the violence.

8- We warn Sana’a’s authorities of the consequences of continuing to use violence, and affirm that this policy will pull the country into a dark tunnel, which Sana’a will bear all the consequences. We ask the international community to observe the situation, as we are determine not to give up of our rights on our land and wealth, so we will continue to struggle peacefully. However, we affirm that violence begets violence and that the initiator is the most highhanded.
Again we salute you and call you to continue the struggle until we achieve our demands and regain all rights of the South Arabia’s people from their usurped.

God blesses you and preserves the South Arabia
